Java

Never the wrong board.

How it feels

The Java gets up and going instantly. Its smooth and connected on rail. It’ll fly through weak sections, and come alive in steeper pockets.

It’s the board you can take out without checking the conditions. It can be high tide, low tide, tiny, pumping, choppy….whatever the ocean throws at you, it’s going to be a good time.

You’ll find yourself paddling out for a quick surf, and end up staying out past dark.

Why it works

The Java is our take on a refined fish.

Plenty of foam is packed throughout the board for easy paddling and instant speed, while the rounder outline and added tail rocker keep it fluid and controlled in steeper, more critical surf.

You get all the speed and glide people love in a fish, without that tracky feeling they typically have.

Java

Faster reaction underfoot.

More vertical and playful.

Handles a huge range of conditions.

The Idea

The Java has been a long time in the making.

I mean it when I say I’ve got a full blown obsession with fishes. I’ve ridden well over 100+ of them chasing that feeling of effortless speed but wanting more control and better handling in pumping waves.

The Java came out of that process. A board that’s built to keep the speed and freedom of a fish, but feels more reliable when the waves get good.

It’s easily our most versatile model. Knee-high junk will be insanely fun, but it still has the range and control to handle proper surf once the waves turn on.

If I could only ride one board for the rest of my life, it would hands down be a Java.

The Details

Bottom

Single to generous double concave through the fins.

A pronounced heavy V out the tail.

Creates easy speed while keeping the board engaged and controlled through turns.

Macnut

Deck

Foam is discreetly hidden under the chest, thinning out toward the tail.

Easy paddling and effortless speed up front, with a more sensitive feel off the tail once you step back.

More drawn out approach.

Loves flowing rail surfing

Best for smooth carving lines.

Rocker

Medium rocker, evenly distributed throughout the entire board.

Easy to get into waves early, but still enough curve to keep the nose free when the waves get steeper.

Fins

Upright twin templates only.

Fast down the line, but still loose enough to pivot freely when you want to push harder off the tail or crank the board vertical.

I highly recommend the Torren Martyn uprights by Simon Jones, or Asher Pacey uprights by Shapers.
